N-scale Blue Ridge Division
I am slowly trying to update the photo section of the website with newer pictures, I have taken a bunch of pictures for different articles and need to get them on the site. Please keep checking back as I change the update date on the main page when things get added.
I am still working on structures for the Parton Lumber facility located at Logan, NC. I have also added an arrival / departure track to Erwin Yard. This allows the yard crew to continue working while a train arrives or departs. It parallels the mainline on the approach into the yard.
There are 8 new scratch built structures on the layout, the churches located at Huntdale and Toecane along with the depots at Green Mountain and Marion, NC. I have also added the house on the rock at Kona and the feldspar plant at Spruce Pine. The swinging bridge at the house on the rock at Kona has also been added along with the Armstrong Glass Plant located at the north end of Erwin Yard. The north Erwin Yard Office has also been added. The walls in the staging room now have a new backdrop as well.
The scenery at Marion is now just about complete. I have also added more custom built cars and locomotives to the layout.
I continue to install sound decoders to the locomotive fleet. This has greatly added to the enjoyment of operating the layout.
One of my operators, Karl Andraschko, has super detailed numerous cars and locomotives for the layout. Two of the locomotives, a Southern Railway GP-30, was featured on the cover of the Nov / Dec 2012 issue and a CRR Family Lines GP38-2 was the lead unit on the cover for the July / August 2019 issue of N-Scale Railroading Magazine.
Another operator, Hans Kraemer has also detailed some locomotives and has become our Erwin Yardmaster.
The layout has most recently been featured in a 2 part series in the July / August and September / October 2019 issues of N Scale Railroading magazine.
My layout was also featured in the July / August 2008 edition of N-Scale Magazine. The article was written by another one of my operators, Ed Schultz.
The layout also appeared in the March 2015 edition of the Carolina Clinchfield Chapter of the National Railroad Historical Society Magazine "The Jitterbug".
Model Railroad TV has also released their DVD filmed in the Fall of 2009 on my layout. Their website is www.model-railroad.tv
